Print Your Own Fabric Workshop - Introduction to Screen printing and Fabric Design
Print Your Own Fabric Workshop - Introduction to Screen printing and Fabric Design
Do you love fabric? Colour? Texture? Patterns?
Have you always wanted to learn to screenprint?
This workshop will help you understand the basic techniques of screen printing and transferring designs onto fabric through handcut stencils and mark making. I will show you how to transfer your design ideas using stencils and various brushes and stamps to print your own little fabric collection. You will learn tips and tricks to be able to continue printing at home if you so desire.
The possibilities of transferring your own mark onto fabric are endless!
Come and join me at River Studios for a day filled with colour, texture and printing.
What to bring:
Wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit of ink on or bring an old apron to wear.
Your lunch - fridge, microwave and sandwich toaster all available. Morning tea will be provided with tea and coffee. Please note that there are no cafes within walking distance of studio.
Ideas, pictures or drawings to use as inspiration for your designs. There will be plenty of inspiration available on the day too!
Feel free to bring your own fabric to print on. Natural fibres only please as the inks used are best suited for fabrics such as cotton, linen or hemp. Light coloured fabrics are best.
You will go home with your own bundle of printed fabrics that can be transformed into a tote, small zipper pouch, cushion cover and so much more! You will also receive an information booklet which will include some of the techniques learned and how to continue at home.

Simone made us feel so relaxed, supported and encouraged. Merely hinting at ideas, Simone allowed us to make all the decisions. We were blown away by what we learnt and achieved in one day. The best day for mother and daughter.
What a beautiful immersion of fabric and printing and botanical inspiration… as a novice ‘who likes doing things with my hands’ this workshop was perfect. Simone is a calm skilled teacher and artist. It was so great getting a sense of the process and making my own Billy button inspired design. I will be back again soon. Thanks Simone
Simone is an amazing artist and workshop facilitator. I came away as a novice initially with a greater understanding of this amazing art practice. But most importantly, my own unique art work on my fabric of choice. Thank you for sharing and making this a very individualized experience. I am so, so delighted to have had such one to one attention and able to be supported to express my vision on fabric. So grateful! I love also your safe haven of a studio at such an accessible venue, River Studio, West Melbourne. Thanks again. Louise Marson

I attended Simone’s most recent workshop and was so fortunate to have a master class with her. I love fabric and design but am a complete novice when it comes to creating your own design and screen printing. Simone took me step by step through the process and encouraged my creativity and before I knew it the day was gone and I had created some gorgeous fabrics to make tote bags and cushions! I was totally immersed for the whole day with delightful company and beautiful art. I can’t recommend this workshop highly enough and will definitely be back to continue this creative journey. Thank you so much Simone for a wonderful day. xx
